MANAGEMENT CONTROL

To budget the project’s materials, we need to know the price of four different elements. We have the interactive machines, the tubes, the scales to weigh the number of articles, and the posters that will indicate whether the clothes can be worn again or not.

We are choosing interactive machines with a tactile screen, to help children and their parents know more about what Tape-à-l’oeil is actually doing, to whom the clothes will be given to or our partnership with the association. There also will be videos and photos of the children displayed, to really accentuate the idea of “children for children”. The type of machines we had in mind cost between 1000 and 1500, and we found one that seemed big enough and not too inclined to let children see the screen, at 1490 euros. Then talking about the tubes or slides, the price is around 100 but can vary to 200 euros, depending on length. The posters would be around 25 euros each and the scale should cost around 150 euros.

Taking all the different items into consideration, the cost of the project would be between 31 000 and 52 500 euros, depending on the machines and slides we are choosing. It could be a little more depending on the transportation cost of the items, to the 25 shops we elected to test our solution.

As for the second solution that is to implement the possibility to round the expense to the superior euro on the payment terminals, we did not think that budgeting and variance analysis were needed. All the shops already have those, and you just have to modify them directly, so it does not cost anything, except a little time from the cashiers. Implementing this will help again the image of Tape-à-l’oeil to become more and more aware of climate change and sustainability and gain customers thanks to these initiatives, especially thanks to the partnership with the association helping children in Bangladesh.
